Initial discussions held September 20, 2012 at the DataONE AHM. CitSci is interested. The key question is one of when. CitSci does not currently produce finalized datasets, but is considering doing so. Their infrastructure is based around a SQL*Server database that holds the data from the various projects. The key value propositions to CitSci and the underlying projects are that DataONE can provide a means for making the data more accessible, provide identifiers to help track the use of the data, and help with the long-term preservation of the data. CitSci will investigate producing finalized annual data products, which would be the first thing to deposit into DataONE. Greg is interested in reviewing the plan for handling streaming data. Given current efforts, the plan is to revisit the approach and level of effort needed around 1/1/13.
