9/10/18: MN getting a new VM setup this week to migrate to in response to Rogers new upgrade procedure

split into two sections, where only the first section requires sudo access. This allows the upgrade to be completed as the regular GMN user, who owns the files belonging to the GMN service. However, it requires the GMN user to have some permissions not usually assigned to regular users
In this approach, Roger logs in as the GMN user and do most of the steps of the upgrade.
