#1 Updated by Rob Nahf over 7 years ago

I've seen other media types associated with scripts, for example "application/x-matlab", "application/x-python" but don't know whether these things are community standards.

#2 Updated by Bryce Mecum over 7 years ago

Note that there is a discussion happening via email, subject '[coredev] New format ids', and on Slack in DataONEorg/ci.

#3 Updated by Jing Tao over 7 years ago

After the meeting, the new proposal is:

application/R
R script
DATA

R

application/MATLAB
MATLAB source code
DATA

m

Already in use, do not change formatId

application/x-python
Python script
DATA

py

application/SAS
SAS source code
DATA

sas

#4 Updated by Chris Jones over 7 years ago

Hi Jing,

I just have some minor suggestions:

application/R
R programming language script
DATA

R

application/MATLAB
MATLAB programming language script
DATA

m

Already in use, do not change formatId

application/x-python
Python programming language script
DATA

py

application/SAS
SAS programming language script
DATA

sas

Basically, just slightly more descriptive names.
