The docs at http://jenkins-1.dataone.org/jenkins/job/API%20Documentation%20-%20trunk/ws/api-documentation/build/html/apis/CN_APIs.html#CNCore.reserveIdentifier indicate that the 'key' for the identifier to reserve is 'id', when it should actually be 'pid'.
Specifying a request with id (see attached bash script) produces the error:

The given identifier is already in use: null
