I've put my prototype in the d1_portal_servlet project because:
-we have stylesheets for rendering web interfaces there
-we have a pre-existing mechanism for interacting with the CN as a client to gather all the necessary information
-the portal is configured on a per-environment basis
-the portal is deployed on each CN
