prior to this branch, documentation was consolidated into class-oriented .Rd files, with method aliases included. This branch re-enabled the roxygen annotations to generate .Rd docs in the man/ subdir. The content of these descriptions are not reconciled with what's in the -class.Rd file method descriptions, so many further manual edits and reviews would be needed to finialize documentation in this form.
