/node/ returns an XML doc that does not validate against nodelist.xsd

relaxed requirements on the new attribute 'environment' to be optional, and switched the case of controlled vocabulary (enumeration) to lowercase (the 'type' attribute). NodeLists I get back from CNs have type values of 'mn' and 'cn', so it should work.
