During the discussion on 20150615 it was decided that it was premature to add the auth methods to the API. Instead the auth approach will be documented sufficiently that implementors can successfully authenticate to access services. https://epad.dataone.org/pad/p/20150615-V2-Discussion
An important part of this is the documentation associated with the token authentication approach in the architecture docs. This needs to be finalized and reviewed at the protocol level.
