Description

System metadata attributes for tracking and managing all objects in the DataONE system were enumerated at the Knoxville CCIT meeting (see notes in SVN). This task is to formalize that list of attributes, provide formal definitions for every field, and specify the cardinality of the information items. The easiest way to do this is likely to create a schema for system metadata.

Also need to indicate which attributes are expected to be filled by the MN to support the getSystemMetadata() response.

Version targets for fields were added.

Document now needs formal review of CCIT to get agreement on field definitions. Probably should be reviewed in conjunction with the accompanying XSD file defining a schema for system metadata.
