Will need to upgrade Debian packaging for the CN components

A rough upgrade process:

(after shutting down dataone services)

  1. turn off apt-get updates from dataone precise
  2. clear out old kernals - running out of room is likely otherwise, and then things don't finish installing and you have a mess
  3. upgrade the OS to 14.04
    • make sure everything is completely configured
  4. backup and migrate postgres db from 9.1 to 9.3 (see subtask for details)
  5. install java-8 and remove java 7. (?)
  6. turn on apt-get updates from dataone trusty
  7. apt-get upgrade again to get dataone packages
  8. configure metacat
  9. turn on indexing
  10. turn on d1-processing
