Possibly due to a connection not being closed on the server side? Perhaps a mismatch in the content size reported in the header?
Works fine with curl, Chrome waits for the connection to timeout before returning the response. Untested in other browsers.

Appears to be an issue with a specific machine. Testing from other clients on other machines shows normal response times of < 1sec.
