GINA also runs the Alaska EPSCoR repository and because it's a separate project, it should also be a separate MN

"GINA is a mechanism within the University of Alaska (UA) for sharing data and technical capacity among Alaskan, Arctic, and world communities.

Established in 2001 as an initiative of UA’s President, GINA promotes collaboration at the local, state, and federal levels by increasing community-wide participation in the discovery and use of geospatial data. GINA’s products and services greatly expand the range of available analysis capabilities in order to better address research and management requirements."

UTK is in process of replacing TRACE with a system to manage both data and metadata. Currently, they expect that DSpace is the likely technology for an institutional repository, and they intend for this to to be a DataONE MN.

Member Nodes - MNDeployment #3217 (Deferred): EMBRAPA member nodehttps://redmine.dataone.org/issues/32172012-09-05T03:31:40ZDave Vieglaisdave.vieglais@gmail.com

This issue is to track the deployment or otherwise of the EMBRAPA (The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) member node.

The following EMBRAPA group is considering a MN Deployment:

Embrapa Monitoramento por Satélite
http://www.cnpm.embrapa.br/
Satellite MOnitoring Unit based in Campinas, Brazil. They are considering using either a Metacat server or GeoNetwork as their server for deploying a metadata catalog. They also have a deployed GeoServer instance with many of their vector and raster geospatial data. Discussions need to continue about how best to support this group, and whether we should adapt GeoNetwork to work with the DataONE APIs.

Member Nodes - MNDeployment #3215 (Deferred): GEO BON member nodehttps://redmine.dataone.org/issues/32152012-09-05T03:28:27ZDave Vieglaisdave.vieglais@gmail.com

This issue is to track deployment of the Cornell Member Node (also known as the Avian Knowledge Network member node)

Member Nodes - MNDeployment #3207 (Deferred): BIOTA - FAPESP MNhttps://redmine.dataone.org/issues/32072012-09-05T03:06:48ZDave Vieglaisdave.vieglais@gmail.com

This issue is to track the deployment of the BIOTA - FAPESP member node.

Biota
They have deployed a test Metacat server to evaluate whether becoming a MN makes sense for the Biota program inside of EMBRAPA. This is a separate instance from other possible EMBRAPA nodes. Contacts for this project are Debora Drucker and Tiago E. M. Duque Estrada, both with EMBRAPA. The test Metacat is located http://biota.gradiente.ib.unicamp.br/biota/. Matt Jones met with the Biota team to discuss DataONE and the possibility of becoming a MN, and there is promise, but an uncertain schedule. More discussions need to take place before a decisions are made.
